Announcements for October 2008 For Diocesan news, visit The Episcopal News. For National news, visit the Episcopal News Service. For Worldwide news, visit the Anglican Communion News Service. We are a family of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ who are seeking and doing God’s will, by meeting the spiritual and social needs of our members and neighbors in the Episcopal tradition. |
Altar GuildThe Altar Guild prepares and cares for the sanctuary of the church, the eucharistic vessels, linens and ornaments. Appointed by the Rector, members serve on one of five teams. Each team prepares for our services one Sunday of each month. Under the general supervision of the director, guild members prepare the materials of worship and with the use of flowers and seasonal decorations, add beauty and dignity to our worship. For more information please contact Mary Dinsdale. Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs)Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) administer the chalice at services. They may take communion to the sick. They are trained by the Diocesan staff and licensed by the Bishop. For more information please contact Barbara Stewart. LectorsLectors assist in leading public worship, share in the reading of Scripture, and are trained for their specific duties by the Rector. For more information please contact Barbara Stewart. The themes of worship, study, service and recreation provide the framework for GFS programs. GFS at St. John’s includes a variety of activities that meet the needs, interests and ages of the girls. For more information please contact Marie Greatorex or Margaret Nolde. Episcopal Church Women (ECW)The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) provides an opportunity for all women of our church to join together in worship, study, fellowship and service. Members provide services to help others in need, sponsor fund raisers for outreach projects, and have an opportunity to become involved in many special projects during the year which help support the on-going life of the church. Every woman at St. John’s is automatically a member of the ECW. Our parish ECW elects its own officers and is a part of the Diocesan and National ECW Program. For more information please contact Brenda Titus. |
